please keep in mind that front loaders are not the best for everyone. There are certain use cases which cannot be met through a front loading washer, such as needing to soak laundry before a wash. It sounds like the OP prefers a top loader, so we should accept that and give the advice that has been requested, which is recommendations for effective top loaders.
Keep in mind that at least some front loaders can soak. Mine does. Never gave it much thought myself.
Perhaps I should have been clearer. When I say soak, I'm not talking about a pre-soak for stain treatment, or something simple like that. I mean heavy-duty loads where you need to throw large volumes of water at the problem and make sure every item in the load is underneath the water during the entire soak in order to get the load clean/sanitized, and that a large amount of one's laundry consists of these types of loads.

Top loaders typically hold two to three times the amount of water as front loaders. While one could cut their load size to soak in a front loader, for my use case in particular, that would mean running 2-3 loads of laundry a day just for caregiving-related laundry, leaving very little time for me to wash my own clothes. I already spend enough time in the laundry room as it is.

There are also other reasons why people might prefer a top loader over a front loader. My primary point is to respect what people have decided is the best approach for them in their laundry room, because your use case is not the same as my use case, and neither one of our use cases is likely the same as the OP's use case.

The OP wants to hear more about top loaders, so top loaders it is. Although I suspect we've lost the OP at this point, given how long it's been since they've replied.
