Regarding the following:
If this really is going on to any great extent, then it will take a change in only one thing about how the world currently works to turn it all on its head. But at least it will probably happen slowly, barring some kind of excommunicado event.
The above-mentioned trade imbalances probably won't change much anytime soon. Americans buy a lot of stuff from overseas, and so many foreign countries have a lot of USD that they need to do something with (and they need only so many Boeing airplanes and Marlboro cigarettes).
When someone from a different country buys something from an American company, the company doesn't necessarily accept payment in the customer's home currency.
Yes, of course (I think that's generally understood or assumed).
The opposite could be the case as well.
Sure. Anything that's legal is fair game. As far as I know, there's no contradiction with anything I said.
