I doubt this is true, unless the Schwab account had investments that were not able to be held at Fidelity. ACATS (in-kind) transfers appear to be possible and completed by at least one other person earlier in this forum topic (viewtopic.php?p=7968386#p7968386).
I was just on the phone with a Fidelity rep and they told me a transfer from Schwab to Fidelity would have to be cash. If Schwab was still in investments, they would be sold before transferring. Ugh.
If this is true, I plan to sell the ETFs myself.
