Can anyone report experience with Grail’s Galleri early detection test?
Purportedly Grail’s test suffers a roughly 0.5% false-positive rate, meaning 1 in 200 patients who don’t have cancer will get a positive signal. Its positive predictive value is 43%, so that of every 100 patients with a positive signal, 43 actually have cancer.
0.5% is a rather high false positive rate, especially against a >50% false positive rate.
The test costs about $900 to a grand.
I recognize that cancer prevention is equally a worthy activity as is cancer detection.
Anyone out there with experience with this test?
