I have been charging my Tesla on a 120v GFCI for over 3 years without a single issue.+1 With your location in Virginia the garage GFCI may get a lot more humidity exposure over time than a typical indoor GFCI. They are very easy to replace.Another possible and simple answer is that GFCI breakers and outlets fail over time. It's a very simple task to replace either a breaker or outlet and see if that will solve the problem.
