Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Update: Can a Retired 60 yo MD, MBA Start a Law Career?

2024 Update: In 2018, Boglehead lawyers convinced me that applying to law school was probably a bad idea. Again, thank you for that help.

At that time, I thought it was unlikely that I would be able to arrange a better work schedule, but to my surprise, my employer agreed to each change that I requested. I now work about 55 hours during the week, but at a less frenetic pace. As a result, I no longer return home angry and frustrated. Instead, I have the time, the energy, and the motivation to go into the office on Saturday and Sunday to study. The more I study the more I enjoy my job. I was there from 6:30 to 11:30 this a.m. and had a great time. :happy

So, ask and you may receive. That can backfire, but when financially independent with an unsustainable work schedule that's ok.
Thank you for coming back and updating us.

I think as one hits one's 60s one also realises that the clock is ticking down. We knew a woman who was still travelling the world in her early 90s (towing around a suitcase that must have been 50 years old). But one sees the terrible toll of infirmity, cancer, dementia really beginning to hit in one's peer group.
My best friend from high school died at 57. A friend from internship who was in good health one month ago just died suddenly of meningitis. We don't know what the future holds for us, but my wife and I plan as though we will be like your 90-something acquaintance, or like Charlie Munger, Henry Kissinger, and Jack LaLanne. I'll update this post in 30 years. :)
