We use Hue and WIz with Alexa control. I like the voice option. I suggest plan out each spot before buying for that spot. Example: Hallway, open up the lightfixtures and see what type of bulbs, Replace with color or just white. Now how bright do you want them. Will the bulbs fit in the fixtures. Now where is the motion sensor going to go to pickup movement. How long to leave it on when it senses. Then if its middle of the night maybe bright on is not the best but 20 percent on for a few minutes. Now you have to leave the switch on going forward and make sure nobody switches it off. You can buy a cover for the switch but I haven't tried one yet. Ok with that plan you can now automate the hallway and see if it works out.
One thing I like is my kitchen lights go on at 6am with my alarm. Just makes the morning routine so much nicer. Also all my lights go off at a set time in the morning if I forget any and at night at bed time. I do have 5pm lights go on in the lounge to suggest that its time to leave work and take a sip, listen to music and read. Then I have another set of lights to click on at sunset but soft orangish light not a harsh white. I do feel the older bulbs we got were just plan terrible - Compact Fluoresant Bulb(boo!) - but these newer LED bulbs when planned for with color and white brightnesss makes a huge difference in life. The new LED bulbs replacing the long tube Fluoresant bulb are so much better. I just figured that out.
Hue bulbs are a tool but planning it all out is key. Have fun!
