You are obviously a very conservative investor and need a high feeling of safety to sleep at night-it’s good to understand one’s investment temperament-most investors only learn this after experiencing their first stockmarket downturn with when they have had a reasonable amount of money saved
At age 32 -70/40 is a more common asset allocation
I retired at 57 with a 30/70 asset allocation and a reasonably large pot saved-now 77 and retd 20+ years -all OK so far!
I think with your temperament 50/50 sounds a good compromise
Actually in the long term 30/ 70 portfolios do almost as well as 70/30 portfolios-its just that you end up with an adequate but smaller pot at retirement
Make the choice of asset allocation that suits your temperament and that you can maintain through thick and thin!
