Good real world advice when this does happen (not this week, it turns out).This has literally been going on for years. The answer for me has been a $250 cab ride from Heathrow to threadneedle.
Hotel rooms have been in short supply as semi-local people who need to be downtown for work stay over due to transportation disruption. Book early and be prepared to pay a lot. I think my average per night has been something like 800-1000$
