Investing - Theory, News & General • How do you think about longevity?

My dad had a car wreck yesterday, and he is 88.5. He told me it was his fault and he is giving up driving. He is a seriously lucky man. Only suffered bruises and probably a cracked rib. My mom can do all of the driving and she can even drive at night. She is the youngster, at age 83.

I suffered two close calls in a car during the last week. One still sends chills. I was siting at a red light, the light turned green, and luckily for me I am a passive driver in my mature years of almost 60. I hesitated, something just didn't quite feel right, and Zooom! a car flew through the intersection, probably would have killed me if not for modern side air bags. The other close one was the simple car trying to turn left in front of me, as in right at me. I landed on the horn quick enough to scare them away.

Life is short. I want to go retire to a small town, where I can walk almost everywhere.
