Personal Consumer Issues • EV / Hybrid basics?

...if you don't drive a lot... and are mostly driving locally. That's the ideal use case for an EV.
While I can see that this pattern works well with an EV, and it's basically what the cheaper EVs like the Leaf were made for, I just don't see how an EV can "win" here. Like if you drive so little that a Leaf would work well (with its relatively short range and slow charging), then it seems like it would take an unreasonably long time to make up the $7-8k price premium over a Sentra (Nissan's comparable midsize ICE model).
You need to factor in federal and state incentives for EV purchase. In MA that’d knock ~11k+ off the EV price. I think in most states with good incentives a Leaf will be cheaper than a Sentra to purchase.
