Couldn't agree more with this. Often a layoff unhappily corresponds with a falling stock market, resulting in a drop in income alongside a drop in portfolio value. You are fortunate to have only one of these problems!I’m unsure why there is so much opposition to adjust asset allocation in an inserted like this.
70/30 is about as aggressive as I’d want to be with the situation as it was described. It’s perfectly sensible to make the transition now while equities are basically at all time highs.
If a slightly less aggressive asset allocation suits you at this point, there is no better time to make that adjustment than now when the market's up 20-30% over the last year.
