Personal Consumer Issues • Washing machine crapped out (Samsung)...

Gasket is actually pretty easy to replace on a lot of front loaders, should be a 15 minute job with the right tools.
The issue is with the laundry room that the pair is in - it's TINY and there's barely any room to work. I basically had to setup two step ladders so I could climb up and over the w/d (after cautiously pulling the washer out without crushing my fingers/limbs lol). So doing any sort of work on these things is already a huge PITA based on the limited amount of space. Fortunately, the control board is in a pretty easily accessible location that didn't require intensive disassembly of the washer.

Replacing the gasket seems a lot more involved and also seems that it will require decent amounts of working space both in front and behind. If I pull the washing machine forward to first access the back to unscrew the top panel, I won't have space to work in the front. So I envision it turning into a tedious situation where I'll be sliding the washer forward and backward multiple times between removing panels so I can have space to work on both sides.
Or you take it out of the tight space (it went in, so it can come out) and work on it out in the open. Be that a garage, kitchen, back yard, wherever. When done put it back in the laundry room. A pain, sure. But that sounds like it is true for any unit in that space. Mine is similar but maybe worse. To work on the washer, I would first need to take out the dryer, then I can take out the washer. Though depending on the job, once the dryer is out, I might be able to work on the washer by rotating and sliding.
Yea, I think I was going to mention that but forgot - I could always pull the dryer out then the washer after but it would just be an overall PITA - the adjoining hallway/entry from the garage is also narrow so it's a super tight fit and we'll likely end up inevitably banging up door frames, walls, corners, etc in the process of moving this around. I did leverage magic sliders when initially pulling the washer out to get more clearance when replacing the PCB and it crossed my mind to pull everything out but I opted not to. Additionally, there is a door in there where I already removed the handle because you can barely close the door. I'd have to remove the door in order to get both these machines out. At that point, if I'm going to go through all that trouble, I'd rather just wait until one breaks down and replace them both. It is tempting to grab one of those all in one units that washes and dries so I can free up some space :)
