When our 40 yr old top-loader finally failed beyond repair, the local repair person recommended a Speed Queen top loader. It costs considerably more, he explained, but much quieter and more reliable than the “big box” offerings, and no stooping over to load and unload, and no door seal issues. He told us about several customers whose new luxury homes feature a washer/dryer space in proximity to their bedroom, and, due to the noise, they had called him to swap out their hardly used LG or GE "big box" washer, with a whisper-quiet Speed Queen. We have been happy with our choice. Walk by and can't even detect it’s running.
