I'm a complete newb in this space, but I found your arguments to be quite compelling so thanks for taking the time to write them up!!! I think you sold me on upgrading from the Premium Rewards card.So I look at it this way, for $100 I get a card with four full priority pass memberships and Visa Infinite level travel perks and protections, with 2.625% base spend, and 3.5% base unlimited travel and dining, with no caps, portals, FTFs, rotators, etc.
I travel at least a half dozen times per year (usually solo) but have a humungo family, some of which also travels solo at times. I'm sure they could benefit from the four peripheral memberships. Our local airports don't have any perks, but the airports I fly to (like Denver, Vegas, Seattle) do have some (primarily the $28 restaurant credit). So basically, if I were to bring a non-priority pass guest, it would entitle me and a friend to two $28 meals? At both the origin and destination airports (and layover airport) on a single day? That's pretty slick indeed! If there are multiple restaurants within a given airport, can you visit two on a long layover?
Sorry for my ignorance here. This is totally new to me.
I found this YT video to be helpful for those considering the jump. He echo's Lastrun's point that the BoA card is the most generous in its priority pass membership benefit.
