I send a wire because it is faster than ACH and there is no fee. Does the ACH online form have box for a 'memo' where I can input a reference number? I need that so they know where to apply them. It is not 'my' bank, but an external bank.Are you just trying to transfer funds back and forth to your bank account from Vanguard. I have a linked bank account with my Vanguard account and I transfer funds that way all the time (I assume this is ACH) and it has worked fine for years. It seems like it is your bank that creates the issues (why would they create hoops for ACH?).
Wires I would reserve for special use cases and indeed I think I have used one wire transfer with Vanguard in 30 years.
