I don't believe it's plausible and know of no case where a person who no longer has any residence in a state and spends not time there can be claimed to have tax domicile there.
Many ex-pats remain domiciled in the last state they lived in before they left. Same with RVers. In order to end domicile in one state, you have to have a new domicile in another.
