We ended up changing vets because the one we were using kept steering us to food that only they carried locally and was almost impossible to get elsewhere. My birding friend use to run the local Humane Society and she advised us to avoid that vet because of that. Now, our vet has some food that they carry but she is more than willing to opine on the suitability of brands and formulas commonly available. Elderly cat; picky eater and chronically losing weight so at this point, anything she will eat that is basically "good" and doesn't cause other issues is fair game. Duck is currently in favor.
