I work with kids esp the ones applying to colleges. Not every kid is a good test taker. If you have resources I would recommend getting a tutor and retake it. Also give ACT a try. He could do better.Hi Everyone,
My Son is a rising senior in high school and has recently completed his first round of SATs and got a 1040. He is an great student with a 3.5 GPA (~3.8 weighted). Most of the schools we've looked at have emphasized they are test optional and do not require SATs. Though it sounds like if your SATs are a high score, it can be advantageous to submit those with his college application. Considering his GPA, I'm wondering if it's worth hiring a tutor and investing time in test prep to retake the SATs in August, and potentially again in October, or if we should just forgo SATs since the schools we are looking at are test optional.
Thanks,
TRC
