Personal Investments • Asset Allocation - Do You Include Cash?

From 1994 until well into the 2000's, Vanguard showed its LifeStrategy all-in-one funds as containing three asset classes, "stocks," "bonds," and "short-term reserves" which were close to cash-like. These short-term reserves were inside the fund. They couldn't be tapped or withdrawn separately.
PAS categorizes my asset mix as Stocks, Bonds, and Others.
  • Stocks are broken down into three categories
Bonds are broken down into four categories
Others (in my case) includes only short-term reserves. Not sure what else they might put there.
My point is that Vanguard still uses a short-term reserves category as part of the overall portfolio.
