I suspect this "laissez-faire" attitude might change if we have a prolonged bear market...
Agree. A strong market for the past 15 years with relatively short downturns provides a lot of leeway.
I agree that a strong stock market has had an affect, but I don’t agree that it’s had more of an affect on those who withdraw as needed compared to those who withdraw, say a fixed 5% from their portfolio like the commenter early in this thread. I would think it’s the second retiree whose plan would be most likely to be altered by a protected bear market. I say this because most retirees live mostly on social security income, which isn’t affected by a bear market.

That’s why I resided the question a couple of posts up from this one. At what point do people adjust their “as needed” withdrawal behavior (due to a shrinking pool of available funds).
