We're retired, 70 & 75, living in a small town (10K) in the southeast.
Our total expenses excluding income taxes were about $53K last year. They broke down as follows, approximately:
$12K medical = $9K Medicare premiums + $3K other
$10K home = $6K utilities + $2K prop tax & insurance + $2K maintenance
$5K food = $4K groceries + $1K eating out, excluding travel
$4K car insurance, maintenance, local gas
$9K donations
$13K other stuff, mostly my hobbies and associated travel
Context:
According to Zillow, our paid-off house (3bd, 2ba, about 1500 sq ft) is worth about $240K.
We own two small cars, both 11 years old. Hers is used only for local trips: shopping, medical, etc., up to 10-12 miles round trip, once or twice per week. Mine is used for similar local trips, plus out-of-town trips and road trips. Most of its miles are "highway miles".
Neither of us spends a lot on clothes etc. I have some hobbies, and take one or two weekend road trips per month to hobby events in the region, 1-4 nights per trip.
Until this year, we had not taken any longer trips in several years. This spring we took a one-week road trip to my hometown up north to see the eclipse. Cost was about $1K-$1.5K altogether.
