Personal Consumer Issues • Washer/dryer tenant repairs

Thanks all! Your feedback was valuable in helping me think through this. I’m hearing consensus that maybe it’s best to ask for a change or look for other options. One of the benefits of renting for me is avoiding the cost of maintenance and I feel like I’d lose some of that here. Beyond the cost of the repairs I also worry about being on the hook if the washer floods its area (which happened in my latest rental and the landlord took care of). Since I’d be responsible for repairs maybe they could claim I didn’t maintain/repair it properly and would be responsible for other damage, even if it was the fault of previous tenant and Watty suggested could happen.

Theres a few other things in the lease that bug me as well so I think I’ll listen to my gut and move on.
