Most popular mesh hardware have multiple LAN ports. The limitation may be that some are capped to 1000Mbit, but that probably isn't a practical concern. No matter, how only need 1 free (in addition to 1 for wired backhaul) to connect to a $20 networking switch.Perhaps I don't understand mesh routers properly, but one of the things that has kept me from getting them is none (or at least not the popular ones) seem to have multiple ethernet ports (out). While I'm all for setting up a mesh network and hoping that solves coverage issues, I still want to have the reliable backup of ethernet connections (particularly for docking stations that are used to WFH). Although I suppose I could connect a mesh router to my current router, still use the latter router's additional ethernet ports, and have the mesh system run in parallel?
You can also use your existing router as a hub, but a dedicated one is better for not much expenditure. Wouldn't want to run a parallel wireless signal from it because potential collision with the mesh network, and no seamless switching between the 2.
