I recently joined a company that uses John Hancock for their 401k provider (yup, I know). The interface is trash and the investment options are not ideal. They have a 500 Index Fund with a .05 expense ratio but I'm having trouble choosing a bond option. I'm still new to understanding asset allocation. I'm 35 and make 110k and for now have opted for a Roth IRA until I'm at a higher income. Any bond options below that seem reasonable or should I just be putting bonds in my brokerage or Roth IRA?
BlackRock High Yield Bond Fund: 0.43 expense ratio
DFA Intermediate Gov Fixed Inc: 0.12
John Hancock Bond Fund 0.26
PIMCO Real Return 0.67
