It's easy to pick similar funds at Fidelity or Schwab because the research has already been done!... The pain for me is that I would have to now switch from Vanguard mutual funds to similar Fidelity/Schwab mutual funds that do the same thing as the ones I currently have in Vanguard. So now, in order to avoid Schwab/Fidelity fees for holding Vanguard funds, I would have to do a whole lotta research to see what are similar funds...and I don't have time for that.

Check out the Bogleheads wiki articles for Fidelity and Schwab. Each one has a list of funds alongside their corresponding Vanguard funds.
