Given the extenuating circumstances of 2 special needs children, I personally think taking some financial risk is worth it for your family’s mental and physical wellbeing.
I’d trade some financial risk to alleviate constant sleep disruptions any day. No one can survive that indefinitely before something gives.
I’d research the most cost effective ways to get into a house or apartment that helps alleviate the situation. Or, as someone mentioned, are there simpler options like installing room dividers?
But … I respectfully disagree with the basic sentiment that “you can’t afford it, so suck it up”. Some situations require taking the non-optimal financial choice to save your sanity.
