I would absolutely take the ugly house in the great neighborhood. The old adage for Real Estate "Location, Location, Location" is quite true. Overtime you can likely make some changes to improve curb appeal or else just wait for that style to become popular again . Mid Century houses had a resurgence, now 70's styling is popular with the younger generation.
