Just because it's highly likely to close up doesn't mean you'll come out ahead. You're waiting until the good news and buying after a clear upward surge already occurred, right? So it could easily go down a bit after your purchase and yet still end up much higher than market open.... More specifically, last week when Powell spoke, the market obviously ratcheted up until close. That was a short term movement that once the news came out investing in xxxx at 11:15 or so could be a clear win until close. ...
At the exact moment of your purchase, what do you know that others don't? Do you think your order execution is faster than the hundreds of millions that are pouring in from professional money managers, etc?
Though in hindsight everything is a lot more obvious.
