Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Tax question - How did you handle your state's surplus tax refund?

1099G is a standard form that whether you use an account or not you should be printing out if your state doesn't mail it if you get a refund. I elect to print it out in my state instead of having mailed. I am not sure a state would cut off millions of people who don't use a computer or have a printer but maybe Georgia does. I use tax software and did my taxes months ago so I didn't go back to look. I believe in my state there is a difference if you itemize deductions or take the standard deduction. All I do is input the information on my tax software and let the program decide. Since I itemized, I think I owed but don't know for sure.

Whoever does your taxes normally just inputs using their software and you trust them, so tax software is pretty smart.
