"Deidre Woollard caught up with [Daniel] Peris to talk about why he believes we’re about to witness a resurgence of dividend investing."

I don't follow trends, fads, and fashions in investing. If dividend investing is the cool new thing, so be it. I'll just keep wearing comfortable corduroy pants and investing in total market index funds.

But I doubt it anyway. I would be astonished if Daniel Peris doesn't have an obvious self-serving motive for trying to make us think there is a "resurgence of dividend investing." Let me check:

"Daniel Peris is vice president and portfolio manager of the $1.3 billion Federated Strategic Value Dividend Fund since 2006." What a surprise.

So, the proof of the pudding...

Of course he believes, or wants us to believe, in a resurgence of dividend investing--because that's what it will take for his fund to catch up with an S&P 500 index fund. The Class A shares, which I used to get the longest history, has a whopping 1.06% expense ratio, but even the class R6 shares cost 0.79%. But that's not the explanation of why an S&P 500 index fund is beating it by an average of more than 3% per year.
😂. I am shocked.
