I have to admit my Pentax K1-II FF DSLR kit weighs a ton and is huge. Camera bag is about 8 lbs. The TSA called it "the giant camera" once. LolNew camera bag, 3 lenses, wide, mid, long zooms, . . . . flash just in case...extra batteries...charger...I’ll likely figure out a way to bring the camera… and then get frustrated that i have to deal with all the additional chargers, batteries, accessories, etc LOLThe iPhone does it all and solves world peace crowd will be along shortly....
Is photography a priority? If no then use the phone. It will get you some decent pics. If yes then your not likely to be asking the question.
Edit: Going on a 6 week trip soon and I'm trying to cull gear I want to take
Imagine taking that everywhere. Others waiting for you to "take a shot"...
And....the cell phone is now ubiquitous. But, pull out a "real camera" and others and crowds react in various ways.

I still take it with me when I travel. But I don't carry every piece of the kit every day.
I also have a GX85 micro4/3 camera. It is small and light, and even with 2 lenses, I don't think it would be consequential in terms of overpacking.
I personally much prefer cameras with a viewfinder and physical buttons, especially the shutter. I find touch screens extremely imprecise. It is much more difficult for me to capture the moment on a smartphone. But it does take a lot longer to pull the camera out of the bag initially. When I wear my DSLR with a neck strap, I'm definitely far faster with it than with phone in pocket.
