Adding...I am not opposed in general of buying used lenses. I have bought 2 used lenses before and it worked out. In this particular case, none of the used options seem to work out:
- Sony lens is $2,800 new and $2689 used on a reputable re-seller site for Excellent condition. Savings is 4% and $111 dollars. Warranty is longer for new lens.
- Tamron G2 and Sigma just came out in the last few months, so there is no used stock available. Tamron G1 is available for $744 (of $1199 original price) so 38% price drop.
