I've been around several rebuilt cars, knowing and not, and all have not been great vehicles. There are many things that can be off that are hard to detect like bent/twisted frames that cause uneven tire wear that can't be adjusted out. I've also had engine mounting bolts, not torqued to spec in the rebuild fall out. Another one came with a rag in the air intake that caused issues. As a result of this experience, I steer clear of them. If I were going to consider one again, I would definitely find out exactly how it was damaged. Collisions (that can bend frames) and flooding (which can eventually rust electrical connections causing havoc) would be deal breakers for me.What are your thoughts about buying a slightly older car versus buying a new car with a rebuilt title? Or getting a newer car with a clean title but high miles?
I would try to find the newest and with fewest miles, vehicle I can buy used with your budget, giving preference to brands known for reliability and longevity like Honda and Toyota.
