Personal Finance (Not Investing) • health insurance for child aging out of parents health plan

For some context, I'm wondering what is the cost of simply purchasing basic health insurance for a 27 year old in what I presume is good health. Say, a BC/BS plan. And also for a high deductible, say, basically catastrophic plan, what would that cost? I assume there are insurance brokers who could help with these and other options. Anyway, a 27 year old's health insurance cost would seem to be comparatively low, ACA or not.
That seems like a terrible idea if they can qualify for Medicaid instead. Why bother paying a monthly premium plus thousands of dollars if there's an emergency when Medicaid will cover 100% of cost for free?
