Let's say you are planning to convert $50,000 in 2024 and the investments grow 10% during the year. Where does that new $5,000 end up in each case?
Early, $5k in the Roth, later, $5k in the tIRA.

Per the original post, I wouldn't call that "way ahead", maybe $1200 after tax in the 24% bracket.
Sure, but the cost of doing the early conversion is practically nil.
