Personal Investments • Fidelity Solo 401k contribution question

You will have to call Fidelity to have them do it if you are pushing the funds via ACH to them or writing a check. With the latter, there is a Remittance Form I submit (see, below) that designates the plan year and contribution type. You could also try completing the Form and either (1) drop it off at a local office, or (2) upload it to Fidelity CS via your online account.

Calling is such a pain. I like pay myself on the 1st and 15th and having to call 24x a year is annoying
For a push ACH, if you want Fidelity to reflect the correct contribution year/type your choices to provide the information are to call or upload/dropoff the Remittance Form.

If you don’t want to do any of those for a push ACH, then let Fidelity code it however they decide to do it (assuming they will do so). They don’t report the information to anyone except you in your account statement/valuation.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter for plan accounting purposes whether Fidelity tracks the contribution detail information. You are the plan administrator and as such are responsible for tracking/reporting the contribution breakdown (i.e., plan year, contribution type).
