I just assume any film hyped by Hollywood critics or winning awards is something I won't enjoy. I am almost never wrong (especially the last 5yrs or so) so I generally avoid such things.People definitely have different tastes/interests when it comes to movies. I tend to think "artsy" movies are overrated (which means not my taste). Most of the Oscar winners over the last 20 years I thought were average at best. When a silent movie won a little over 10 years ago it just confirmed my thoughts. It seems that in the most recent years the Academy tried to make the movie nominees a little more mainstream.I could not speak for others as my taste seems to oftentimes differ vastly, especially with the critics.I'm curious. What do you attribute the 3.5/10 rating to? I almost always look at IMDB ratings and even bad movies typically get 4 or 5 out of 10. 3.5 is a really low rating. I typically avoid movies rated less than 6. I make some exceptions sometimes as I've noticed action movies tend to get lower ratings.Amazon Prime
I give it a B-.

Last week I saw Warhorse One. Then watched it again with someone else, who gave it a B+. I thought it was excellent both times.
I guess I should not have been surprised me but was still surprised when every one of the critics was highly critical of Warhorse One.
TV is a little different. For instance, "The Bear" has won a ton of awards and IMO it's very well done. So, I'll usually give hyped TV shows a shot.
