Sinking funds?
What's that?

My view is that it’s saving ahead for semi-foreseeable (you know they’re going to happen, just not necessarily when) lumpy expenses. New roof. New fridge. Substantial car repairs. New car. Christmas expenses. What you usually spend annually on medical care. And so on.
