Also remember, half the population came from somewhere else in the world and being that they think they are the best and brightest they firmly believe that their driving habits are the proper driving habits.

The above driving tips also apply to crossing the street. Be Prepared.
Oh, yeah. That sounds like great fun. Not.

For those reading this, the good news is that andypanda's take is probably projection. I drive in DC regularly, and it's not a "winner take all" hellscape. I've actually seen manners among drivers there. Speed limit is low, too, and people generally obey it. Just be careful at traffic circles. Many drivers, especially those from out of town, evidently don't know how to navigate them.

That said, there's nothing fun about cars or driving, in my book. If you can take the metro and walk, do it.
