Earlier today....

Mozart, La Ci Darem La Mano, duet from Don Giovanni.

"Performed" (in practice) by
RM and Mr.RM

We've been working on this duet for some time (too long; we must the THE slowest students at the Conservatory).
This is the first piece where there are any sections where we are singing different music (not simply harmony) and different words.

Until today, our lessons have always been in classrooms of various sizes and acoustics.
However, today, we had an extra lesson, and regular classes are not in session.
So we went a short distance to a local church, where our instructor also gives some private lessons not associated with the Conservatory.

So we were in the Sanctuary, which is a very large room where services are held and also choral music.

I opened my mouth just to warm up with some exercises, and... I couldn't help myself...
I raised my arms to the heavens. (literally, and we are *not* particularly religious)
THE ACOUSTICS IN THAT SANCTUARY!
Oh my!

That was quite a special experience. It was visceral.
I suppose that top opera singers are hearing - and feeling - that, and much more, all the time in proper opera halls.

But it was a "first" for us, to hear, feel, and just experience that...

Coming up soon, a much more difficult piece:
Rossini, Dunque io son, Barber of Seville
This is going to be *much* more difficult!
