Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Employer Benefit/ Hospital Indemnity

So spouse has this workplace benefit, and now I do too, I was unaware about this until a year ago in general. I asked my HR about double dipping if my wife at a separate employer that uses a separate provider (Metlife) files a claim for a hospital admission, can I do the same for the same admission with a totally separate provider (Aflac). HR at my company advised me to call and ask my hospital indemnity provider (Aflac) and I did and they seemed to think it was fine, and I spelled it out and she said it back to me very clearly. I asked for it in writing but they don't do that. So if you have a family member with needs or a pregnancy, it seems like a no brainer unless I'm missing something? I guess I'm a little incredulous that these indemnity policies operate totally independent of one another but it seems so, do any other BH have any experience?
I wouldn’t be surprised if your wife could collect on “hospital indemnity”, which is typically a dollar amount for every day spent in the hospital, on both her policy and your policy (presuming that your policy covers her too).

Medical insurance typically has “coordination of benefits” (COB) clauses, where insurers won’t double-pay if you’re covered under two policies. But I don’t think that COB is typical on hospital indemnity.

You’s need to look at the policies to be sure.
