To move a 401k you often have to talk to both institutions. Quite different than moving an IRA. Investments are liquidated and a check is sent through the mail.

That's a good point. "Moving" a 401k (especially if there are non spouse employees i.e. not a solo 401k) is indeed very different than moving other account types.
