One tip ... when he gets past "tee ball" level, try to keep encouraging him to hit off the tee regularly.
Kids think they "grow out of" hitting off the tee, but there is no drill better at giving immediate feedback on proper swing path, and no better drill at "grooving", and committing to muscle memory, a solid swing. Plus with an investment in a good net, good tee, and a bucket of baseballs, it is something that can be done in limited space and by oneself regularly.
Another tip, try to teach the importance of thinking about what to do at any given position when the ball is NOT hit to you (aka backing up plays). It is more than good baseball, it keeps kids active and interested when playing positions in youth baseball that can get little action (usually, the outfield).
Finally, play catch with your son as much as possible.
