I had both errors (in blue above)... should have checked my consolidated form more closely before assigning "internal turnover and resultant gains" to the 1099B. Had I looked at the 1099DIV before finalizing that post, I'd have seen that 2a says "Total capital gains distributions" with a non-zero value and the 1099B clearly says "proceeds" followed by "gain or loss," so that was a sale in Jan 2022 I forgot about. Apologies for the confusion!+1I’m a little confused. Capital Gain distributions (not associated with share sales) are reported on 1099-DIV (Box 2a), not 1099-B. 1099-B is for sales and resulting capital gains or losses.
My guess, bonesly, is either you forgot about making a sale; what you thought was a 1099-b was really a 1099-div; or your brokerage misreported a distribution as a 1099-b when it should go on 1099-div.
