I agree. My statement was meant to say the real test is to go through a downturn and see how one reacts. Of course, this is only partially revealing. At 30, one may say, great, 35 years to catch up. Not so much at 60.The problem is that 0% of investors imagine that they will panic sell but the reality is that many will. I'm old enought to remember 1987, 2000, 2008. Many friends, family, colleagues just pulled out. Probably some people here too. The damage of selling low and then later buying high is so severe that I tend to advise erring on more conservative AAs.Real test is whether you will react during a downturn.
