to op:Background: Recently purchased a new BMW X3 M40i which comes with a factory 4 year warranty. Historically, we keep our cars for 10 years.
I am looking at buying an extended warranty from only 3 providers who have sterling reputations:
Fidelity, CNA, and Zurich.
Here is my question:
Should I buy it now or wait until just before our factory warranty expires?
Here is some sample pricing on a Fidelity Quote:
10 yr, 0 Deductible, 120k Miles = $5,765
10 yr, $100 Deductible, 120k Miles = $4,550
11 yr, 0 Deductible, 120k Miles = $6,303
11 yr, $100 Deductible, 120k Miles = $4,937
Thanks in advance.
Curious: why are you shopping 3rd party extended warranties?
Can you get an extended warranty for a new BMW directly from BMW??

Recently bought a 2024 Honda Odyssey Elite with 8 year extended warranty from Honda. We bought the warranty the day we brought the car home.
The Honda extended warranty was from another Honda Dealer online that sells a lot of them at near cost.
The Elite has the newer 10 spd trans. The 9 spd had issues. And, also the updated VCM-3 system. Also potential issues.
