Personal Consumer Issues • Can the new iPad Pro replace a laptop?

It can do what you describe, but the 13-in Pro is $1300+, and the Magic Keyboard is another $350. That's approaching the price of two MacBook Airs!

The 13-in iPad Air does everything the Pro can, with an M2, at $800. It works with the prior-gen Magic Keyboard, which you can get for much cheaper online. Actually, for travel I'd recommend the Smart Keyboard Folio, which is much lighter than the Magic Keyboard. I have one with my 11-inch Pro (prior gen), it works great. The Smart Keyboard Folio works with the iPad Air (up to current gen) and with prior-gen Pros, but not with the newest Pros with M4.
I just bought this and it is an incredibly well engineered setup. Works great.

Perhaps, but it costs almost twice what a MacBook Air does and is actually heavier. I don't see the point.
