artbuc,Speaking just for myself, I understand no one can predict the future. That was not my point. I did not understand inherent risk with a bond fund. I just assumed they were rock solid ballast against equity volatility. Embarrassed to admit it but I learned from it.I do not think anyone in 2019 could have or should have thought that we would have a pandemic and that the Fed would lower their overnight interest rate to 0.25% in 2020. I think many should have been aware in 2021 that owning an intermediate bond fund had a lot of risk for little reward. We were paid so little for the term risk. Inflation caught me by surprise. Holding nominal bonds was very costly and we will not ever get back what was lost to inflation.
I knew and understood the risks, but I still had to take it on the chin.
What do you differently now?
