Vehicle was (apparently) slightly damaged in a hit and run shopping lot incident. I have $1000 deductible on my collision.
I received an estimate for $1300 to repair but was cautuoned that the side-impact hardware may have been damaged and if that were the case, only determined after the process began, than the door would need to be replaced (never mind that parts for this vehicle, Ioniq5, were generally not available.
the cost for this repair could double but I won't know until they tear the car apart, then it is too late to claim insurance. It seems unlikely that the side-impact hardware was damaged but I am in a quandry how to proceed. If the door was in need of replacment that would change the equation on claiming/not claiming.
